Recalling 1930’s adventure serials, Rebellion Developments’ Strange Brigade is a rip-roaring, co-op, third-person shooter with an ambition to add some much-needed charisma and life to a genre dominated by games like Left 4 Dead and the bland, joyless co-op of Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Picking one of four different characters, your team of up to four set out to battle supernatural foes and solve puzzles on your quest for glory. It’s deliciously tongue-in-cheek and its waves of enemies can be mown down with traps and special moves. It’s far from a complex experience, but it’s satisfying and engaging.
Sadly we didn’t get a chance to experience the game in co-op, but even solo there was a lot of fun to be had gunning down mummies and slicing bad guys apart with spinning blades and spike traps. We’re excited to find out more about the Strange Brigade – it’s almost a shame we don’t know yet when the gang will be making their debut. Previewed by Martin Wharmby
