The ‘Kawaii Metal’ trio has toured all over the world, they have supported bands such as Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, recorded the opening theme to UniKitty, and they’ve appeared in Super Mario Maker. Now BABYMETAL is to release a graphic novel.
As revealed by the Hollywood Reporter and via BABYMETAL on social media, the graphic novel is titled APOCRYPHA: THE LEGEND OF BABYMETAL and will be published by Z2 Comics. Written by The Prophet of The Fox God, it will feature art by GMB Chomichuk.
The synopsis explains that it is the original story based on BABYMETAL that you have never heard before. Su-metal, Yuimetal and Moametal are tasked with defeating the forces of darkness and division, and so must travel through a variety of eras of time, assuming different forms and identities. The long-hidden metal spirit’s apocrypha of the METAL RESISTANCE will emerge.
“In the months to come, BABYMETAL fans can expect more announcements,” said Z2 Comics co-publisher Sridhar Reddy. “Today I would say the question we should be asking is not who is BABYMETAL, but what is BABYMETAL?”
The graphic novel is already up for pre-order on Amazon. A limited edition version with a special cover will also be available from select retailers.
APOCRYPHA: THE LEGEND OF BABYMETAL is set to be released on 16 October 2018.
