Resident Evil 7 is coming to the Switch via a version of the game that runs in that mysterious internet space known as the cloud.
Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version brings Capcom’s first person horror to Nintendo’s console from May 24 in Japan, but requires an internet connection to play as it will be streamed to the Switch. There’s no word on whether this version will be made available in the West yet.
It won’t be sold like a traditional game either, with players able to try out a free demo for 15 minutes or purchase 180 days of play time for 2000 yen.
It’s an interesting model that’ll function in a similar way to how Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud currently works in Japan and could suggest Capcom is looking for ways to get the incredibly popular Monster Hunter World to the Switch. Yeah, we’d quite like that…
