Black Clover anime to receive August release from Sony Pictures

The first part of fantasy anime Black Clover is to get a UK release on 6 August, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced today. Published as a DVD and Blu-ray combi pack, Black Clover Season One, Part One will feature the first 10 episodes of the spell-slinging show, which adapts Yūki Tabata’s manga series and debuted in Japan last year.

Produced by studio Pierrot (Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto Shippuden) and directed by Monster Musume helmer Tatsuya Yoshihara, Black Clover tells the story of 15-year-old orphan Asta, who dreams of becoming the Wizard King – the most powerful mage in all the land – despite not being able to, y’know, actually use magic at all.

Fortunately, Asta comes into possession of the legendary five-leaf clover grimoire after defending his talented best friend and wizarding rival Yuno from a thief – giving the spell-deficient teen access to powerful anti-magic abilities. Armed with his new found powers and encouraged by Yuno, the feisty Asta sets out to earn the coveted title of Wizard King…
