Following the announcement that Superman actor Henry Cavill will be playing Geralt of Rivia, two more key roles in Netflix’s upcoming series based on The Witcher books and video games have been cast, including the Princess of Cintra, Ciri, and powerful sorceress, Yennefer.

Playing the role of Ciri is Freya Allan, who is best known for her work on The War of the Worlds and Into The Badlands. Meanwhile, Yennefer will be played by Anya Chalotra, who has appeared in The ABC Murders and Wanderlust.

A number of other recent additions to the cast were announced too, including Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as the knight Eist and Adam Levy and the druid Mousesack. We also have a number of sorceresses added to the lineup, such as MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla and Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina. Lastly, the outcast Princess Renfri will be played by Millie Brady.

As for exactly what story the Netflix series of The Witcher will follow, the blurb so far suggests that Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer will all be drawn together amidst conflict on the Continent. Fans of the novels and games can probably guess where this might lead, especially with the way the hunt for Ciri became such a driving force of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

There’s currently no date set for when the series will premiere, but showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has confirmed they are preparing to enter production soon.
