A second edition of popular alien-battling board game Level 7 [Omega Protocol] is heading to Kickstarter next week, US games publisher Privateer Press has announced.
First released in 2013, Level 7 [Omega Protocol] is a dungeon-crawling, miniatures-based title that sees 1-5 players step into the shoes of special ops soldiers raiding a secret government facility overrun by aliens. Meanwhile, another person takes on the role of the Overseer, controlling the players’ extraterrestrial adversaries.
Set to run from Monday 15 October to the end of the month, the Kickstarter campaign will feature an updated version of Omega Protocol together with bonus content that includes new game cards, new room tiles and a brand-new miniature – an alternate female commander sculpt. Backers who already own the original Omega Protocol will be able to acquire these bonus contents separately, while copies of the game’s 2016 expansion Extreme Prejudice will also be available.

“Ever since Omega Protocol sold out in 2016, we’ve received numerous and frequent inquiries about when it might come back,” said Privateer Press head honcho Matt Wilson. “But we can’t gauge an accurate demand on a reprint through traditional channels, and speculating on a new print run for a product of this size is too risky, so we’re turning to Kickstarter as a tool to determine the true demand and whether or not there is enough to warrant a second edition.”
Designed by Will ‘Oz’ Schoonover, Level 7 [Omega Protocol]’s second edition follows the recent return of another out-of-print Privateer Press property, Monsterpocalypse, which was re-launched as a hobby miniatures game last week after a decade-long hiatus.
