With Dragon Ball Super: Broly only a week away from its UK cinema release, Manga Entertainment is getting us in the mood with a DVD collection of Broly-themed Dragon Ball Z films from the early ‘90s.
Released with a £15.99 RRP, the Dragon Ball Z: Broly Trilogy features 1993’s Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, the feature film that first introduced the villainous Broly to the DBZ audience, along with1994 sequel films Broly’s Second Coming and Bio-Broly. All three movies see Broly voiced by Bin Shimada (aka Zack in Dead or Alive), with Fullmetal Alchemist’s Vic Mignogna taking on the role in the English dub.
Created by writer Takao Koyama and designed by Akira Toriyama, badass Saiyan brawler Broly was initially envisioned as a one-shot villain, but the character’s popularity with DBZ fans saw the green-haired antagonist return to challenge Goku and pals in another two movies and a string of video games. And last year saw Toei Animation announce a third big screen outing for Broly, with the fan fave returning as the star of Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
