Junichiro Tamura, producer of fantasy anime The Rising of the Shield Hero, is to hold a Reddit AMA this Saturday. Streaming service Crunchyroll, which is currently simulcasting the show, has teamed up with the r/anime subreddit to host the two-hour online chat, which will start at 19:00 Pacific Time on Saturday 9 February – that’s 3am for GMT folks.

Adapted by Kinema Citrus from a light novel series by Aneko Yusagi, The Rising of the Shield Hero premiered on 9 January and tells the story of geeky college student Naofumi Iwatani, who is whisked off to a fantasy world in peril where he takes on the titular role of Shield Hero. However, Naofumi’s dreams of heroism soon turn sour when he is betrayed, ridiculed and robbed. Trusting no-one, the embittered Naofumi even resorts to buying slaves to bolster his adventuring party – one of whom is a tanuki demi-human named Raphtalia.

A former manga editor, Junichiro Tamura is a business producer at prominent Japanese publisher Kadokawa, having worked on anime series such as Bungo Stray Dogs, Chio’s School Road and Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion. You can catch his Reddit AMA here.
