Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time opens in March, and as the release draws near, the director of the film, Ava DuVernay, revealed on Twitter that Mattel will be releasing Barbie dolls of her trio of stars, Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon.
Based on Madeleine L’Engle’s novel, A Wrinkle in Time tells of Meg Murry (Storm Reid) as she travels across dimensions of time and space to search for her missing father, accompanied by her younger brother Charles (Deric McCabe) and her friend Calvin (Levi Miller). During her journey, she meets three ‘celestial beings’ – Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling) and Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon).
DuVernay took to Twitter, saying “When Disney makes Barbies of your movie’s characters and you just want to stare at them all day in disbelief because you loved Barbies as a girl but never had any like these.”

Designed by Carlyle Nuera, each doll has a fully articulated body and the box includes a doll stand and certificate of authenticity.
The Barbie Signature dolls are currently up for pre-order at a cost of $50 each (around £35) and will ship from 23 February 2018 (and Mattel do ship internationally).
