LADYBABY returns as four member girl group

After Rei Kuromiya’s departure from what was then The Idol Formerly Known as LADYBABY, with Rie Kaneko all by her lonesome, many would have assumed that LADYBABY was dead and buried. However, in January a tweet from their Twitter page revealed that LADYBABY was auditioning for new members.

As reported on Natalie, LADYBABY has reverted back to the original name, taking to social media to reveal a new photo and releasing a video, showing that they have returned as a four-member girl group. The video introduces three new members joining Rie. They include Fuka Karasawa, Nana Ikeda and Emiri Arima.

Following Ladybeard’s departure in July 2016, Rie and Rei rebranded themselves as The Idol Formerly Known as Ladybaby. However, in November 2017, it was announced that Rei would be leaving, citing a throat condition that made it difficult for her to perform.

The newly reformed LADYBABY will play their one-man tour in Japan, TOUR 2018-SADAME, making their first appearance performing at Music Club JANUS in Osaka on 4 March 2018.
