Ever since Blizzard posted a cryptic tweet last week, many are expecting the mega-developer to announce a version of Diablo 3 for Nintendo Switch. Is it happening? Well, the truth appears to be a little more complicated.
The tweet in question showed a Diablo themed nightlight being switched on and off with the phrase ‘sweet dreams’. Not the most conclusive evidence that Blizzard’s gothic RPG loot-fest is coming to Nintendo’s console, but the idea of Diablo being ‘switched on’ led to much rampant speculation. See, humans are good at finding connections where none exist.
Almost as soon as excitement was reaching fever pitch, Blizzard would release a statement to calm everyone down. “As of now, we do not have any current plans to announce Diablo for Switch,” a spokesperson told Eurogamer. Right, that’s the end of it, then?
In that same piece, Eurogamer has heard from sources that say Diablo 3 is in production for Nintendo Switch. The same sources were surprised to see the tweet go live last week as they believe an official announcement is still months away.
So, after going around in circles for almost a week we can finally settle on the following conclusion about Diablo 3 on the Nintendo Switch. It’s happening soon. Probably.
