Thor: Ragnarok‘s Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will be starring together again in Sony Columbia Pictures Men in Black spin-off.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the film would be directed by F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious and Straight Outta Compton), from a screenplay by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (both of whom scripted Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight). Little is known about the story except that it will feature new characters and be more of an ensemble film, for rather than sticking to New York events will take place globally, with word that it will be set in London.
Producers of the original trilogy Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will be returning for the spin-off, along with Steven Spielberg as executive producer.
The original trilogy was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, with stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, and earned a combined $1.654 billion worldwide.
The Men in Black spin-off already has a release date set for 14 June 2019.
