It’s been quite a week for getting our first look at some of the games we’re most excited to play in the near future. Yesterday, we had a glorious thirty-minute introduction to Doom Eternal. Today, it’s Rockstar’s upcoming western opus, Red Dead Redemption 2.
This gameplay video isn’t quite a long as Bethesda’s but still goes into some serious detail about how the long-awaited sequel to Red Dead Redemption is going to play.
Perhaps the standout line from the whole piece is: “Your guns aren’t the only way to interact with the environment.” We see the game’s protagonist Arthur Morgan is able to approach situations in a variety of ways, not only just shooting his way through but also defuse, intimidate or even offer a simple friendly hello to a passerby. In the end, you’re deciding the type of character Arthur is in the world.
Away from the action, we also see Arthur resting and recuperating at camp with his fellow gang members. Activites such as playing poker return from the first game, but you’re also able to simply chat with or listen to your allies. Some of these conversations can lead to new missions, relationships and other fun things to do.
It’s looking impressively far-reaching, with a massive world to explore and get lost in too. A forthcoming video is expected to reveal more about the game, with a specific focus on missions and other activities you can get up to.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on October 26th.
