After being excommunicated from the Continental for violating the High Table’s rules by killing someone on neutral ground, the worldwide hit has been placed on Wick (Keanu Reeves) and the ace assassin must fight to escape New York City if there’s any chance of surviving.
With the bounty on his head, most everyone John’s ever worked with and might have considered an ally now sees him as a target too valuable to give up—except for Sofia (Halle Berry), who might end up having some ulterior motives of her own.
Incidentally, the title “Parabellum” comes from the Latin phrase: “Si vis pacem, para bellum” which means “If you want peace, prepare for war.” It is also an alternate name for the ubiquitous 9mm handgun cartridge (“9mm Parabellum”).
Much to John’s dismay, there’s no way to guarantee his safe passage out of the city and while neither Continental Hotel owner Winston (Ian McShane) and the High Table’s Director Anjelica Huston say it explicitly, there’s a very good chance that John’ll be long dead before he reaches the city limits.
Keanu Reeves has stated in interviews that he does not want the franchise to be destroyed by sequels and the John Wick series will most likely conclude in chapter 3.
Joining Reeves, Berry and McShane are Anjelica Huston, Laurence Fishburne, Jason Mantzoukas and Jerome Flynn.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum hits theatres on May 17.
